Learn something new at the National Library this February. Highlights include talks from three of our 2023 National Library Fellows, and new discoveries from Professor Katherine Bode that shed light on Australia's literary past and long-forgotten authors found in Trove's digitised newspapers.

    Join Dr Wesley Lim as he presents research into the papers of dancer and choreographer Gertrud Bodenwieser, focusing on her collaborative dance photoshoots.
     
  • Chinese diaspora in Cold War Australia with Dr Mei-fen Kuo

    Hear about Dr Mei-fen Kuo's deep-dive into the Library's Chinese-language collections to explore the influence of the Cold War on forming contemporary Chinese-Australian identities.
     
  • Tales from Trove: Discovering Australia’s Lost Literary History
    Friday 16 February | 6pm to 7pm | Free
    The National Library of Australia's digitisation of historical newspapers, and To Be Continued: The Australian Newspaper Fiction Database, have opened the pages of Australia’s literary past in new and surprising ways. Professor Katherine Bode will discuss some of the extraordinary stories that challenge and reshape our traditional understanding of the role of newspapers in publishing fiction.
     
  • Eleanor Whitcombe: Her brilliant career with Dr Eleanor Hogan
    Thursday 29 February | 12.30pm to 1.30pm | Free
    Learn about the award-winning dramatist and trailblazing scriptwriter for theatre, radio and television Eleanor Witcombe from research Fellow Dr Eleanor Hogan.
