Browsing OzLife
Browsing and Searching are two different
features. If you know the name of the person or the book title you require
information about, use the Search option. The Browsing option is applicable
when you are not sure about the name or the spelling of the person and you wish
to look through a range of names, or book titles. Likewise, if you wish to
find biographies about certain people in a range of occupations, you can browse
through the various listings. For example, you can browse all records about
sportsmen/sportswomen to find relevant citations.
When browsing persons type in the name of
first letters of a name. Type in the last name of the person only. If you type
in the first name as well as surname, you may get zero results. Likewise if you
only type in the first name, you will not retrieve records
successfully.
Eg:
For Courtney you could type
Court or Co or C
When browsing book titles, type in the
first few letters/words of the title. As this is not a keyword search you must
enter the title as it is written, including 'The' or 'A' as
necessary.
Eg:
A search for "The peace broker" will
retrieve some results, however a search on "peace broker" will not.
A search for "A cabinet diary" will
locate a record, however a search for "cabinet diary" only will
not.
The browse option only searches up the
the first three (3) words in a book title. It will retrieve records for "The
peace maker" but it will not retrieve the record if you type in the last part
of the title only, eg: "The unorthodox career of Richard Butler".
