1. LicencedBook Review Digest

H.W. Wilson: Book Review Digest, is a bibliographic database that cites and provides excerpts of reviews of current English-language fiction and nonfiction books for children and adults. An abstract of each book is also provided. Periodical coverage includes leading magazines from the United States, Canada and Great Britain. To be indexed in Book Review Digest, a book must have been published or distributed in the United States or Canada. A work of nonfiction must have received reviews in two or more of the periodicals on the Book Review Digest selection list. A work of fiction must have received reviews is at least three of the periodicals. An exception is made for books reviewed in the Reference Books Bulletin section of Booklist. For these books one review is sufficient. Reviews must have appeared within 18 months after a book was published, and at least one review must be from a periodical published in the United States or Canada. Reviews of textbooks, government publications, and technical books in the law and sciences are excluded. Also available in print from 1906 at RF 015.73 B00.

Contains over 2500 critical and biographical websites about authors and their works that can be browsed by author, by title, or by nationality and literary period.

3. OnsiteMasterFILE Premier

EBSCO publishing: This resource provides full text for more than 2,000 general periodicals covering a broad range of disciplines including general reference, business, education, health, general science, multi-cultural issues and much more. In addition to the full text, this database provides indexing and abstracts for more than 2,800 titles. It features full text Magill Book Reviews; hundreds of reference books including the World Almanac and Book of Facts; full text from thousands of biographies; thousands of full text primary source documents; American Heritage Dictionary, 4th Edition; and an Image Collection of over one hundred thousand photos, maps and flags. It offers PDF backfiles as far back as 1975 for key publications including American Libraries, Foreign Affairs, History Today, Judaism, Library Journal and National Review.

4. FreeOzLife: Australian Biography Index

National Library of Australia: OzLife commenced in September 2000 (includes earlier articles from The Canberra Times) and provides web access until June 2005 to the citations for biographical articles selected from the following Australian major national and metropolitan newspapers: The Advertiser (Adelaide); The Age (Melbourne); The Australian; The Australian Financial Review; The Canberra Times; The Courier Mail (Brisbane); The Mercury (Hobart); The Sydney Morning Herald; and The West Australian. Articles on prominent Australians in all walks of life, including musicians, authors, politicians and business executives, are included. Until September 2002 OzLife also indexed book reviews on works of Australian fiction and non-fiction which appeared in Australian journals and newspapers.
